A look back at our keynote lecture with Klaus Welle on the future of Europe’s middle class
We had an inspiring and content-rich evening in Brussels, filled with strong insights and meaningful conversations. The event opened with a welcome and introduction by the Secretary General of CD&V Frederiek Vermeulen and the President of the European People’s Party Manfred Weber. Our eye-catcher Klaus Welle, former Secretary-General of the European Parliament, guided us through the key challenges and future prospects for Europe’s middle class in these rapidly changing times.
During the panel discussion, Members of the European Parliament Niclas Herbst, Sirpa Pietikäinen, and Paulius Saudargas highlighted the importance of taking the concerns of the middle class seriously and responding to them with targeted policies. Moderation was done by our EUCDW Secretary-General and MEP Liesbet Sommen.
The audience also had the chance to ask questions and join the debate, creating an engaging and interactive exchange of ideas. We closed the evening with clear and forward‑looking reflections from our EUCDW President and MEP Dennis Radtke, offering us a view of the road ahead.
